Forestry and Fishing and our Festival is a tribute to them
The
"Logger Sports"
event (our heritage sport) depicts the past
and present logging practices through entertaining competitions between
loggers and is presently the largest in Canada. This years show will offer

World Championship and 7
Canadian Championships,
along with other Open, Intermediate, Novice, ladies Youth and Teen events.
International and local loggers will be competing for part of the
proposed $32,855.00
prize package
and maybe set a Canadian or World record.
For a 4th time our Logger Sports Competition has been selected to be
filmed for TSN and will be aired on their 2011 & 2012 Lumberjack Series.

Our 4th annual
"Summer Salmon Sizzler" starts with a Reception on Friday
evening where local chefs show off their oyster appetizers. On
Saturday and Sunday amateur and professionals compete in barbequed, baked and smoked salmon competitions and
barbequed salmon meals are sold to the public.

For the children and seniors,
North Island Logger Sports provides special areas with events tailored for the enjoyment
of all ages. At the children's area, the young
ones can enjoy a wide variety of FREE rides
and events.
At the other
end of the spectrum, the seniors can try their hand at
cribbage at the Eagles Hall on Saturday Aug.
6 and Sunday Aug. 7.

community support the Salmon Festival was able to assist 37 other community
groups in 2010 through the FREE use of our assets and volunteer help with set-up and
tear down of their event.
The savings to those
charitable groups
exceeded $24,000.00 which
helped their
charitable cause
